The Football Analytics department consists of video analysis and data analysis and serves as a supporting unit that ensures all departments within the football organization have access to relevant, well-founded information. By effectively collecting, managing, analyzing and visualizing this information, the department makes sure it is available on time and that trends and patterns are brought to light. This enables management, technical staff, medical staff and scouts to make better-informed decisions. The department is also responsible for creating and maintaining all football dashboards. In addition, Football Analytics conducts research into new innovations and developments based on data analysis and scientific research.

What will you do?

As a Football Data Engineer, you make sure that data is reliable, structured and accessible. What makes this role special is that you will be working with data that is tangible and speaks directly to the imagination. With your work, you provide input that helps staff and management make better-informed decisions on and off the pitch. Your responsibilities include:

Connecting and processing new data sources
Developing and maintaining ETL-processes
Optimizing data flows and infrastructure
Identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation
Supervising interns and/or collaborating with external partners
 Working closely with Data Analysts and Data Scientists in a Scrum environment to build robust and reliable solutions
Actively contributing ideas on how to further improve the team and its workflows

A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and at least 3 years of relevant work experience
Knowledge of Databricks and Azure Data Services
Experience with data modelling techniques such as Kimball, Inmon or Datavault
Experience with software development practices such as version control (Git), CI/CD and code reviews
Understanding of data governance, security and compliance
